Dr. Tsigereda Biru Leulebirhan

Dr. Tsigereda Biru Leulebirhan is an infectious disease researcher with extensive experience in various laboratories around the globe. She started her work in Ethiopia at Ethiopian health and nutrition research institute (EHNRI) as an HIV junior scientist and then as human Parasitologist. Later she moved to Germany and earned her PhD in University of Frankfurt, medical faculty, department of virology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hans Wilheims Doerr and Prof. Dr. L. Gürtler. Her PhD work focused on HIV genetic evolution and tuberculosis. Dr. Tsigereda moved to United States and pursued her post-doctoral work at Case Western Reserve University and University of Washington. Her work focused on HIV fitness and cytotoxic immune lymphocyte (CTL) escape mechanisms.
