What is happening with denture identification?

Leslie Haller

Abstract

Requiring identification in dental work has huge potential for good, but a potential that cannot be realized until reaching at least a national, and ideally international, agreement on what to include and how.   Mandatory labeling of  removable dental prosthetics is not a simple thing.  It is important to understand the reasons and motivations for labeling removable dental prosthetics.  The information to be included depends on the intended purpose for including it.  Problems of civil liberty and privacy, identity theft, updatability of the information, space limitations, education and expense all need to be considered and addressed at the highest level of government that is practical.
